GROWTH

In 1994 the Bronx, Manhattan Westchester Chapter of CANA was established. Soon thereafter, the Vernese Weeks Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established. Since its inception over 50 scholarships have been awarded to nursing students pursuing a degree in nursing.

AFFILIATION

CANA is affiliated with the Caribbean Nurses Organization, which is the umbrella organization representing the nurses’ organizations of the Caribbean and some of Central and South America. CANA also has relationship with The Black Nurses Association of New York.

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

CANA has collaborated with community leaders to identify the healthcare needs of the communities and has participated in health fairs, educational forums such as: Domestic Violence; Cardiovascular Disease prevention, Blood Pressure screening, HIV/AIDS education, Diabetes prevention and management and Cancer screening among others.
