Ingrid Alleyne-Green is no stranger to helping her community, fostering health/well-being, and providing service to the church. Hailing from Guyana, South America, she emigrated to New York to gain a better opportunity for herself and her family. Ingrid’s commitment to service began when she became a registered nurse, providing bedside care to patients in hospitals for many years. She later transitioned her healthcare career to case management. As Associate Director of Case Management at Kings County Hospital, she honed the administrative and professional skills that would come to serve her well in many capacities.
Determined to foster positive health outcomes, Ingrid joined the Guyanese Nurses Association of America Inc. Here she served as a secretary, assistant business manager, and also president. In each of these roles, Ingrid provided many contributions to health care systems in Guyana and various organizations in the U.S.A. and countries in the Caribbean. Ingrid’s work ethic has not gone unnoticed: in 2018 she was the recipient of the Caribbean American Health Care award in 2018 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the health of New Yorkers. In 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic, The New York Carib News recognized and highlighted Ingrid as a frontline healthcare worker tirelessly providing needed care to the community at that time.
